How many m² do I need?
Measure the length and width of the room and calculate the area (L × W). Add 10% for waste in straight rooms. For herringbone, diagonal layouts or irregular rooms, allow 15%.
Example: 4 m × 5 m = 20 m² + 10% = 22 m². Order packs that together cover at least 22 m².
Every product page states how many m² one pack contains, so you can easily work out how many packs you need.
What is the difference between dryback and click floors?
Dryback (glue-down): The planks are glued to the subfloor. This gives a stable, flat result and is ideal for professional installation. Suitable for underfloor heating.
Click: The planks lock together and float on the subfloor. Easy to lay yourself, easy to lift and relay.
Are the floors suitable for underfloor heating?
Yes, most JOKA vinyl and laminate floors can be used with water-based underfloor heating. For JOKA Design 555, glue-down and click, JOKA specifies a maximum surface temperature of 29 °C. A glue-down floor transfers heat best.
Check the product specifications on the product page for the exact suitability per item.
What is the difference between herringbone and chevron?
With herringbone the planks meet at right angles in a zigzag with square ends. With chevron the ends are cut at an angle, so the pattern forms a point. Chevron looks sleeker, herringbone more classic.
Allow about 15% waste for herringbone. See the herringbone floors or the Evolut range, which has both patterns.
Which wear layer do I need: 0.40 or 0.55 mm?
The wear layer is the top layer of the floor that takes shoes, chair legs and pets. Design 340 has 0.40 mm: plenty for a bedroom or guest room. Design 555 has 0.55 mm and a thicker plank (2.5 versus 2 mm): the choice for a hallway, living room or a home with dogs.
Is vinyl flooring waterproof?
Yes. JOKA vinyl (LVT) flooring is 100% waterproof, which makes it ideal for wet rooms such as bathrooms, kitchens and toilets.
Laminate floors are not, so avoid using them in wet areas.
Which underlay do I need?
For click vinyl floors an underlay of 1 to 2 mm is usually right. Some products already have an integrated underlay.
For laminate we recommend a quality underlay for sound dampening and comfort.
Dryback floors need no separate underlay; the floor is glued straight onto the levelled subfloor.
What warranty comes with JOKA floors?
JOKA floors come with the JOKA manufacturer's warranty. The warranty period varies per product and is stated on the product page and in the product documentation.
The warranty lapses in case of incorrect installation or use outside the recommended conditions.
